Effect of General Anesthesia on Preoperative Hip Range of Motion in Patients Undergoing Hip Arthroscopy
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of general anesthesia on preoperative passive hip range of motion (ROM) in patients undergoing hip arthroscopy for various indications. A total of 260 consecutive patients undergoing hip arthroscopy were included in this study. Passive hip ROM was evaluated bilaterally in the clinic and subsequently under general anesthesia immediately preoperatively.

Patient-Controlled Transdermal Fentanyl Versus Intravenous Morphine Pump After Spine Surgery
Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) is regularly used to manage pain following major surgery. The fentanyl hydrochloride iontophoretic transdermal system (ITS) was developed to overcome some of the limitations of intravenous (IV) PCA. The small, self-adhesive, needle-free disposable system is applied to the skin on the upper arm or chest and is controlled by patients clicking a button on the device.

Transdermal fentanyl in patients with chronic, nonmalignant pain: a case study series
Four cases of patients with chronic, nonmalignant pain who received transdermal fentanyl are presented. These indicate that some patients may benefit from such treatment but also serve to emphasize the importance of careful patient selection and assessment.

Evaluation of long-term efficacy and safety of transdermal fentanyl in the treatment of chronic noncancer pain
The objective of this international, multicenter, open-label trial was to assess the efficacy and safety of up to 12 months of therapy with transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) fentanyl in patients (n = 532) with chronic noncancer pain. The trial was completed by 301 (57%) of the patients. The main outcome measures were pain control assessment, global treatment satisfaction, patient preference for TTS fentanyl, and quality of life.

Documenting tribal community readiness to support substance abuse prevention
Documenting community readiness to support substance abuse prevention in tribal communities is needed to maximize the impact of prevention programming. Semi-structured interviews with 26 tribal community members from Montana and Wyoming served as the primary data source for this evaluation. The Community Readiness Assessment was used to guide the interview process, analysis, and results.

Raman spectroscopy and convolutional neural networks for monitoring biochemical radiation response in breast tumour xenografts
Tumour cells exhibit altered metabolic pathways that lead to radiation resistance and disease progression. Raman spectroscopy (RS) is a label-free optical modality that can monitor post-irradiation biomolecular signatures in tumour cells and tissues. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) perform automated feature extraction directly from data, with classification accuracy exceeding that of traditional machine learning, in cases where data is abundant and feature extraction is challenging.

Raman microspectroscopy and machine learning for use in identifying radiation-induced lung toxicity
Analysis of Raman tissue data is achieved through a combination of techniques. We first distinguish between tissue measurements and air pockets in the lung by using group and basis restricted non-negative matrix factorization. We then analyze the tissue spectra using sparse multinomial logistic regression to discriminate between fibrotic gradings.

A Systematic Review of COVID-19 Vaccine Antibody Responses in People With HIV
HIV infection is a significant independent risk factor for severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disease and death. We summarize COVID-19 vaccine responses in people with HIV (PWH). A systematic literature review of studies from January 1, 2020, to March 31, 2022, of COVID-19 vaccine immunogenicity in PWH from multiple databases was performed. Twenty-eight studies from 12 countries were reviewed.
